Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Reason: The city was recently badly damaged by a large wedge tornado, and is seeing posting's for unsourced material. 2603:6011:C020:63D5:555A:EE97:4603:84A (talk) 03:18, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: IP vandalism based on Trump's tarrifs. Wildfireupdateman :) (talk) 03:52, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Pending-changes protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Some IP editors seem to have been making useful edits Daniel Case (talk) 05:46, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Following expiration of page protection a few hours ago, IPs have resumed removing all mention of subject's sexual assault case. Iiii I I I (talk) 06:09, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: 2 months have past, and the vandalism has reduced a lot since. I would like to edit this page to reorganize some information of the plot, and I would like this to be unprotect since some time has past. 2601:243:2100:5AC0:11B4:E735:A894:1595 (talk) 20:40, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

Declined Your edit request to this effect has been granted. The lack of vandalism since protection is, of course, the point of protecting the article, so it's a circular argument—like saying that since the street was closed to vehicles, there haven't been any accidents so we should reopen it to vehicles. Daniel Case (talk) 03:49, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Low-visibility page protected since 2012. Given the age and low-visibility, I think we can try pending changes Filmssssssssssss (talk) 00:04, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Is it really a good idea to unprotect an article about a disputed territory? Sumanuil. (talk to me) 01:52, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced either.
Declined * Pppery * it has begun... 04:34, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- I should note that up until a year-and-a-half ago it was under a contentious topic/discretionary sanctions regime. The protection is likely under the auspices of WP:Requests for arbitration/Liancourt Rocks, in which case the enforcement privilege has long lapsed. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 05:50, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
"Israeli soldiers have summarily executed Palestinian civilians, often in front of their families." This is one citation that leads to another citation (why not list the original reference?) where it describes a single alleged incident that has been disputed. The original citation is careful to use the term 'alleged' and 'still under verification' and yet the wiki page does not say 'alleged' or 'accused of' - and goes on to add the word 'often', even though only one alleged incident is referenced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.230.248.39 (talk) 02:19, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

This is JUST GRAMMAR. Under Name appears this passage:
"president Donald Trump signed a January 20, 2025 executive order directing federal agencies to adopt the name "Gulf of America" for the gulf waters bounded by the U.S.[27][28][29][b] Major online map platforms and several U.S.-based media outlets voluntarily adopted the change.[33][34][35] Mexican president Claudia"
It contains the word "president" twice. In both cases, the context (a SPECIFIC president) requires capitalization (President). 162.231.238.136 (talk) 20:06, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
- Strom Thurmond filibuster of the Civil Rights Act of 1957 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
This speech is now the second-longest filibuster, being surpassed by New Jersey Democratic Senator Cory Booker on April 1st, 2025 in protest of republican bill (I believe). Fortgunz (talk) 05:33, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Declined The talk page is unprotected; you can make this request there. Daniel Case (talk) 05:48, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
The author of the bill mentioned in this page was my father, Harvey F Barnard. The article has the tittle of my father's proposed bill wrong. It should be The National Economic Stabilization and Recovery Act. The current one mention in this Wikipedia article is not the bill written by Harvey. I have multiple documents to support this. I would like to speak to someone about making this change so the information is accurate. In addition my efforts as his daughter concerning his book and bill could be added to the page as well. Thank You DGerbrecht (talk) 23:19, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Comment:: The talk page is not protected. You should make a request there. Sumanuil. (talk to me) 03:24, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
Not done – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. Talk:NESARA is not protected. Favonian (talk) 07:01, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
